About the Project

Launched in May 2023, Vani is rooted within the powerful genealogy of women’s rights movements and politics in South Asia—with India in particular—and aims to work from the grassroots to address the many vulnerabilities women find themselves in. The educational initiative has its heart in the affirmative possibilities of the archives from the past - with the voices (and silences) of millions of women - to help decipher the multiple layers of inequalities that operate in societies today and use our voices to change the picture. Vani hopes to be a beacon of hope that forges solidarity amongst all the women around us to navigate the unfair everyday realiies of life and make the world a safer place for everyone.
